What to expect:
The NOHE is excited to announce a new component to our 2018 expo – The Roundtable Discussion. The purpose of the roundtable is to bring a greater understanding of housing affordability issues to light in our community. The invited participants will meet to discuss a series of topics related to housing with the hopes of identifying key housing trends, gaps and priority groups in need. With the collaboration and partnership of group experts, local professionals, and community members we aim to identify issues and find possible solutions for the shared challenges of affordability. The topic for discussion this year will surround the lack of affordable, livable and inclusive housing. Participation in the roundtable is by invitation. The roundtable discussion will be a moderated discussion, followed by a networking session and light dinner.

We’ll invite everyone to introduce themselves, and then each group will meet in separate rooms responding to predetermined questions on a variety of housing related topics delivered by a moderator. Please email our roundtable team at info@housingexpo.ca with your ideas. We have suggested some topics, but we’ll happily nix ours in favor of yours.

Relocation of the Cenotaph - Marathon

Cenotaph Relocation
Phase II of the expansion and development of “Marathon Veterans Square” is proceeding with the relocation of the cenotaph. Records show that the original plan was a Centennial Project in 1967 under the direction of Mr. Gordon Dyer a veteran of World War II.
Over the last fifty (50) years time and nature has resulted in visual deterioration and compromised structural integrity of the monument. Therefore, moving the structure in one piece is not possible without causing further damage and possible collapse of the cenotaph.
The plan is to dismantle the structure and save as much of the material as possible for reconstruction at the new location.
The Town of Marathon and The Marathon Royal Canadian Legion Branch 183 are proceeding with this project in honour of those who served. If possible this phase will be completed for Remembrance Day.
