Business for a Day - Summer Camps

An exciting business experience awaits youth between the ages of 8 and 12.  They will participate in a 5-day summer camp unlike any other in our region. Youth Enterprise Camp, brought to you by Head Start in Business and sponsored by Regional CFDCs, FedNor, Ontario Trillium Foundation, Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation and other corporate sponsors, is a one-of-a-kind business camp, where all participants will embark on a journey into the world of enterprise. The camp also includes great summer activities such as swimming, exciting outings, recreational games, and much more.

Young Entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to make new friends, create their own businesses and may even make a profit that is theirs to keep.  Camp participants will be under the supervision of Head Start in Business staff.

By the end of the week, campers will recognize various qualities, characteristics and attitudes within themselves that can be related to entrepreneurship. Campers will also learn how to be team players, creative thinkers, better their organizational skills and goal setting skills all aimed at self-discovery. “My favourite part was making the product because we got to work together as a team,” said a camp participant from last year’s Youth Enterprise Camp. “Seeing the kids start from scratch and slowly transform themselves into entrepreneurs in just a few short days was incredible,” said a program coordinator.

Campers will run their own “Business for a Day” and we extend an open invitation to the community to come and support them.
Camp locations:
Terrace Bay: July 9th – 13th, 2018
Nipigon: July 23rd – 27th, 2018

Live from the Rock Folk Festival

CFNO is proud to support Live from the Rock Folk Festival Aug 10-12 in Red Rock !

The Live from the Rock Folk Festival is an annual music and arts festival located on the beautiful shore of Lake Superior in Red Rock, Ontario. Since the Live from the Rock Blues & Folk Society held the first festival in August of 2002, Live from the Rock has become an annual tradition for over 2,000 music lovers on the north shore of Superior. This grassroots festival is run 100 per cent by volunteers and without the support of over 200 dedicated volunteers and the Township of Red Rock, the Live from the Rock Folk Festival could not exist.

The festival offers world class music on four daytime workshop-style stages, as well as an evening festival concert stage. Daytime Workshops are a magical experience!  Multiple musicians/bands grace the stage at the same time and each take turns playing songs according to the workshop theme.  The musicians often join in on each other’s songs, which makes music that is unique and original and often never heard again. They feed off each other's stories and songs and you as an audience member often get the chance to sing along or sit back and watch the magic unfold.  Most musicians/bands get a chance to play several of their own songs during each workshop.  The first notes can be heard floating across the lake starting at 11 a.m. on Friday morning and they don't stop until the Festival Stage closes the weekend on Sunday evening.
